The other day, we were migrating one of our small companies from Exchange to Kerio Connect. We were setting the system up to use the Kerio Migration tool when we noticed that not all of the users had a .com email address. Kerio was grabbing a .local address for these users. To fix this issue, we added a .com email address for the user in Active Directory. After this, we were able to run the Kerio Migration tool and select which email address we wanted to migrate to Kerio.

Issue: Non-standard email configuration fix for Kerio Migration Tool

System: Windows Exchange Server 2003 and newer

Error Code: None presented

Solution:

  • Within Active Directory Users and Computers – open the user(s) who need(s) an email account configured

  • Select the Email Addresses tab

  • Add an email account (xxxx@abc.com for this situation)

  • Make the .com email the primary account.

  • Select Apply

  • When all users are configured, close Active Directory Users and Computers

  • Proceed through the Kerio Migration Tool process.
